Bren’s philosophy as a filmmaker prioritizes the human touch, recognizing that there are many approaches to making a film, each shaped by a person’s lived experiences, intentions, and methods of inquiry.
In her art practice, she has explored themes of dual and third-culture identities, tactility, feminism and ecological narratives. Moving image work is at times accompanied by other forms of multimedia expression in her work, which includes printmaking, photo collage, illustration and documentary photography.
A few projects she has worked on in the past include Talk to Me (2024), an experimental film on plant communication, According to Plan (2025) a film about the controversial Bradford Tree, and Full Moon Over Palcazú (2025), a documentary short film exploring family, migration, and the relationships between humans and animals in the Peruvian Amazon.
Bren is currently working on the development of a film that navigates how humans make meaning through systems of prediction, whether scientific, agricultural, or cosmological. This research goes towards bringing attention to the dying print culture of The Farmers' Almanac and society’s growing reliance on technological systems that govern human decision-making.
